What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth made from biocompatible titanium and porcelain. Permanently placed inside the gum by our professional dentists, dental implants won’t slip or pinch like dentures.

An implant is made up of three simple parts called the fixture, abutment and crown.

The fixture is a titanium screw that integrates naturally into the jaw to act as the root of a tooth. The abutment is then placed on top of the fixture to attach the crown. The crown sits on top of the abutment to seal the gap between the adjacent teeth.

Together, these three pieces make a beautiful, natural looking tooth that the body will accept as its own. Our friendly dentists aim to light up every smile in Holland Park.

Upgrade Your Smile

Failing to replace any missing teeth can be a catalyst for ongoing issues in your mouth.

With no structure in place, surrounding teeth will eventually move to fill in the gap, causing bite changes and crooked teeth. You may also experience pain from inflammation in the area with nothing to protect the underlying gums.

Our single tooth implants and all-on-4’s can help you eat, smile and speak with ease.

We also offer implant supported bridges and dentures.

If you are on the fence about dental implants, we offer no obligation consultations near Holland Park.

Holland Park Dental Implant Services

1. Single Tooth Replacement

A single tooth replacement at our clinic near Holland Park uses a single titanium dental implant to replace the missing tooth

The implant is first surgically inserted at the site of the missing tooth. The dental implant will then undergo osteointegration, or fusion of bone to implant. Over time the implant will effectively fuse with the jawbone as it heals.

This forms a strong and durable foundation in which a crown will be seated. An abutment is then placed on top of the metal fixture and this is the middle component which allows for the crown to connect to the implant.

A well-placed dental implant should last for a very long time, and studies indicate that the 10-year survival rate is 90%, which means that some still fail. To minimise the chances of failure, it is crucial to maintain excellent oral hygiene and attend regular dental check up and hygiene appointments.

2. Multiple Teeth Replacement - Bridge

If you're looking for an affordable option to replace multiple missing teeth near Holland Park, an implant bridge might be right for you.

An implant bridge is where two implants are used to replace multiple missing teeth. First, the titanium implants are surgically inserted at the site of the missing tooth. The dental implants will then undergo osteointegration (fusion of bone to implant). Over time the implant will effectively fuse with the jawbone as it heals. This forms a solid and durable foundation for the bridge to be seated. An abutment is then placed on top of the metal fixtures, this is the middle component which allows for the bridge to connect to the implants.

3. Full Arch Replacement (All-on-4, All-on-6, All-on-X)

Visit our Holland Park dentists to discuss an All-on-4, All-on-6 or All-on-X dental treatment.

A full arch replacement, also known as All-on-4 or All-on-X is a procedure where all the teeth are replaced using 4-6 implants and a permanent denture. This is usually one of the most life-changing procedures we offer. It restores a fully functional and aesthetic smile.

This modern dental technique is carried out by placing 4-6 implants into the jaw bone, which acts as the foundation of a full arch prosthesis. The prosthesis is the object which sits on top of the implants and replicates the natural teeth.

Benefits of All-on-4:
✓ Fixed solution to replace all missing teeth
✓ Only removable by the Dentist - Looks and feels like you have your natural teeth back
✓ Ability to eat foods that you couldn't with your previous denture or lack of teeth
✓ Significantly reduced cost as compared to placing an implant for every missing tooth
✓ Easier to clean
✓ Potential for immediate teeth

As this procedure dramatically varies from patient to patient, a complimentary consult at our clinic is essential.

Prices from $20,000 per arch

4. Implant Supported Dentures/Over Dentures

Implant supported dentures (also known as over-dentures) are a middle ground between dentures and all-on-4. This is where a denture has extra retention by sitting on 2 (or more) implants.

A cost effective and removable option, implant supported dentures give you added stability to eat and laugh freely without the fear of the denture falling out.

We can either convert your current denture or make you a new one at our dental clinic near Holland Park.

Advantages of Overdentures:
✓ Stabilises the denture
✓ It is removable and easily cleansable
✓ Allows you to comfortably eat with your dentures, even with food that you could not have eaten before
✓ The ability to speak and laugh without the fear of the dentures falling out
✓ More affordable than a full arch of implants.

This procedure dramatically varies from patient to patient, so a consult is essential to provide more information.

Prices for an over-denture with two implants and conversion of the existing denture start at $6,665

Bone and Soft Tissue Grafts

Grafts help create the healthy gum and bones needed to assist your dental implant in integrating into the jaw.

When you lose a tooth, the underlying tissue isn’t stimulated and may resorb. A graft replaces this tissue with natural or substitute material. We have all of the tools needed to perform these grafts at our clinic near Holland Park.

Your dentists will discuss this with you at your consultation if grafts are needed.
